Primary Console Roles

Learnosity Console includes roles that influence user permissions across entire application as well as some module specific ones.

The primary roles that regulate access throughout the Learnosity Console are as follows:

• Access (Edit profile only),
• User
• Admin.

Console Access (Edit profile only)

By default, all Learnosity users are initially given the very basic Console Access role that allows editing their Learnosity profile only. This basic access will not reveal any of the other sections of Learnosity Console.

Console User

Having the Console User role enables users to access any module that doesn't have its own subset of roles, such as:

• Learnosity Dashboard (home screen),
• Item Analysis
• Custom Questions.

Console Admin

The Console Admin role is an all access role for the Learnosity Console. It gives the user access and permissions for everything available within the Console - including modules that have their own role subsets, such as the Feedback Aide Credit Report module and the Item Bank Health Check (IBHC) module. Console Admins do not need to be separately assigned the Feedback Aide Credit Report role or an IBHC role to access these modules.

User Management and Configuration Roles

User Manager

The User Manager role allows managers to manage users for other Learnosity Sites (such as Author Site), as well as Console Site itself in a restricted way.

A user with the User Manager role can:

• Create new users.
• Edit a users username.
• Send a password reset email to the user.
• Edit a users first name and surname.
• Activate/Deactive a user.
• Give basic console access:
  • Give users the Console User role (see above).
• Give author site access:
  • Give users the Author Site roles: User, Activity Manager, Tag Manager (read more on Author Site Tag Management here), and Tag Hierarchy Manager role.
  • Select which Item banks a user can access in Author Site.
  • Assign an Item bank permission group to a user.
• Give Feedback Aide access:
  • Assign or remove the Feedback Aide Credit Report role to grant or revoke access to the Feedback Aide Credit Report module (see the Feedback Aide Role section below).
• Give Item Bank Health Check access:
  • Assign or remove the Itembank-health-manager or Itembank-health-author role to grant or revoke access to the IBHC module (see the Item Bank Health Check Roles section below).

System Administrator

The System Administrator role allows users to manage the Configuration section of Learnosity Console, including Item banks and Consumer configuration.

In the Item banks management section, a System Administrator can:

• Change the Item bank name.
• See which consumer key is being used in Author Site.
• See which consumers have access to the Item bank.

In the Consumer management section, a System Administrator can:

• Add/remove white listed domains for the Consumer.
• Link additional Item banks to the Consumer (with Read-Only or Write access).
  (Note: unlinking or modifying Item bank access can be done by contacting Learnosity Support)
• Set the API Options - CSS file for the Consumer and the valid API timestamp time frame
• View and add the authentication keys for the Consumer.

Management Admin

The Management Admin role gives a user access to both User Management and Configuration sections, including all capabilities of the User Manager and System Administrator roles.

Module-Specific Roles

Feedback Aide Role

The Feedback Aide Credit Report role grants access to the Feedback Aide Credit Report module. Users with this role will see the Credit Report module appear in the Console nav bar; it remains hidden for all other users.

Who it's for: customers who need visibility of Feedback Aide credit usage, for example, product or engineering managers tracking spend.

Who can assign it:

• User Manager (Console)
• Console Admin (Console)

Item Bank Health Check Roles

Two roles control access to the Item Bank Health Check (IBHC) module: Itembank-health-manager and Itembank-health-author. Users with either role will see an AI section in the Console nav bar containing a link to Item Bank Health Check; it remains hidden for all other users.

• Itembank-health-manager: grants full use of IBHC (creating collections, running jobs, reviewing and completing job results), and the ability to assign or remove either IBHC role for other users.
• Itembank-health-author: grants the same use of IBHC (creating collections, running jobs, reviewing and completing job results), without the ability to manage other users' IBHC role assignments.

Who it's for: content managers and authors who need to run IBHC checks on Item Bank content.
